Bethel Church of the Brethren Bethel Church of the Brethren, located 9 miles north of Arriba, Colorado, will celebrate their 100th Anniversary on October 2, 2011. Worship Service will begin at 9 a.m. Introductions, history review and sharing of pictures and stories will begin at 10 a.m. A Time Capsule Dedication will begin at 11:45 followed by a meal and fellowship. Why are we celebrating Bethel Church of the Brethren 100th Anniversary when we celebrated our 75th just 13 years ago? The 75th celebration honored the incorporation of the Bethel Church of the Brethren with the Western Plains District at its current location. As more research was done and more information gathered, it became clear that the origin of the Church of the Brethren in Arriba area began in the early 1900’s. It is not clear exactly when the first congregation was established; however, the earliest church minutes and records found were from June 17, 1911. The Bethel Congregation trusts that this anniversary will be a spiritual blessing as we celebrate God’s goodness in one hundred years of faithfulness.
